Treehouse Project Description
The Treehouse Project was an assignment in Computer Science and Engineering. Mr. Hazlet is our teacher for this class, and this project was an assignment that I chose to share. To complete the treehouse project, we had to build a model or mini treehouse, and use only the materials that we found around our house. I used hot glue, cardboard, fabric, 3 different sticks that could support my treehouse. Over the course of the project we were asked to turn in pictures of the treehouse in its different stages of building. Then we were told to bring it into class in person to show our fellow students.
Treehouse Project Reflection
I chose to share this work sample not because the treehouse turned out amazing, and was a work of art, but because I had a lot of fun building it. I will admit that my treehouse is not as cool, or looks as good as my classmates treehouses, but I spent a lot of effort to build this treehouse, and I am proud of it regardless.
I believe that this work sample represents Thinking and Problem Solving skills, because, on my own I was forced to problem solve my way through the building process. To talk about a specific point in the building process, I was attaching the legs to the house, and the glue was having a hard time sticking to the fabric, so instead I problem solved by cutting holes in the bottom of the house so the sticks could hold up my treehouse.
This work sample demonstrates my current growth because I am not a master at building, and I did not really know the first thing about it until I completed this project, I really learned, challenged myself, and grew on my knowledge of building.
An opportunity for new growth regarding this project would be to make my treehouse more sturdy, and neat. There are a lot of strands of hot glue all over my project that could be cleaned up, and my treehouse is very wobbly. So if I could do this again I would choose a better base to support my treehouse.
