This project in Spanish was very unique. We were tasked with creating a restaurant proposal and menu items using Spanish vocabulary, just like the Shark Tank tv show. Our restaurant was named the salsa shack, and it was a food truck. We created a cardboard representation of a food truck with our menu taped on the outside. We were also assigned to think about the realistic nature of the cost and how it could be implemented in real life and realistic and cost-effective. Going into the project there was a significant amount of research involved, because not all of us knew the requirements of creating a business, and writing a menu. So I feel that I learned a lot about the business cost process.
From this assignment, I am most proud of our end product poster design. I feel that it was very creative, and we spent a lot of time on it. I believe that our poster was colorful, creative, and informative. So I felt very confident when presenting because of our poster.
I feel that this project addresses my financial-economic and business literacy skills because the main part of this project was focused on the implantation of cost-effectiveness in the real world, we all learned a lot about how to calculate the money and averages of businesses.
I feel that this project really developed my financial literacy skills because I felt more confident on the topic of money after this project. I also learned a plethora of new information that will help me in the future.
The most difficult part of this project was the financial portion because the numbers were difficult to sort through, along with the menu creation. Creating the menu gave me a newfound respect for restaurants because it is not an easy job. Thinking of culturally correct foods, with the right ingredients, and writing it all in Spanish was definitely a challenge we faced. However, I believe we took what was thrown at us, and made the best of it.
If I could improve on this work, or do it differently, I would prepare more for the presentation. I feel that I could have rehearsed my lines more, and could have been more confident in the vocal aspect of the project. However, all in all, I feel proud of this project, so there is nothing too big that I would change.
This project relates to what I have learned in the past because it was the culmination of everything we had learned in Spanish for the last lesson. I feel that this project concluded my knowledge of that unit, as well as gave me a better understanding and space to store that knowledge.
This project relates to what I will learn in the future because I feel that learning how to create a mock business and learning all the Spanish vocabulary for the food items will be very helpful in life, and in Spanish 3.
