Description
This project was done in the first quarter of Spanish. We were tasked with finding an exchange program of our interest in a Spanish-speaking country and making a slideshow that describes the program. I was grouped with Simona and we chose to research an exchange program in Chile. We were interested in something that would relate to the environment and Patagonia in Chile. We ended up finding a program that was perfectly ideal for us, it was called SFS Wild Fire and Ice Patagonia. We researched this program and found out all the details with costs and college credits, then we presented the final project in all Spanish.
Reflection
I feel that this assignment addresses my Global Awareness skills because throughout this project we researched and learned about Chile. Learning about the different options for schooling in another country, as well as researching the overall culture/places we would visit in the program and importance of Chile really fueled my Global Awareness skills.
From this assignment I was most proud of our presentation. I feel that presenting in spanish really went well for me and Simona.
I improved and developed upon my Global Awareness skills while completing this project because I got to research an aspect of Chile, and spanish speaking countries that was new to me.
The two most difficult things about completing this task were translating our research and notes into grammatically correct, understandable spanish, as well as finding a credible exchange program that we were interested with in the first place.
I believe that we could improve our presentation by giving a deeper outline of Chilean culture in our slideshow, so the viewers could get an idea of what we would actually experience if we were to be immersed in the country.
This project relates to what I have learned in the past, because most of the vocabulary we have learned was used in the slides and presentation.
I can apply this assignment to future learning by using the information I gathered from mine and other presentations to find feasible college exchange programs in other countries if I decide that is something I would like to do.
