Reflection
This is my Panama project that I completed in Spanish class, with my group members Sinjin, Maya, Simona, and Byron. We had to choose a Spanish speaking country to research, and we chose Panama. Then each of us chose a different aspect of Panamas culture and landscape to study (I chose geography and climate). In the end we chose to make a swing door poster, that resembled a window on the inside. Our idea was to print out postcards that were from Panama, and write our information on the back of them, then clip them up onto the poster, so the poster would look like someones room. During this project we dug deep in Panamas culture, history, food and art. After we had included art, information, and neatness in our poster we presented in front of the class, using Spanish vocabulary, and In my opinion it was a success.
I feel that this assignment adressed my interpersonal skills, because I had to constantly be checking in with my group-mates, to make sure that we were on schedule, and that the project was on track. We also met outside of school for a few days to work on the project, so we were developing our interpersonal skills when we emailed each other to organize and plan.
From this project I am most proud of our end product, and how creative it looked. I think that our idea really turned out well because the poster looked very colorful, and it emanated the spirit of Panama.
I developed my interpersonal skills while completing this project, because, before this project I wasn't as well versed in group work, but after my takeaway is more improved interpersonal skills. That related to me coordinating with my group, emailing teachers when I needed to print things, and more
The most difficult thing about completing this task was constructing, and drawing/painting the actual poster. The research was not very difficult for any of us, but the poster was more intricate.
If I could do this work over or improve on it I would have prepared more for my presentation so I would refrain from reading off my notecards as much. I would also have added more Spanish vocabulary to my presentation, because I was nervous that I did not include enough Spanish vocabulary.
This project relates to what I have done in the past, because in middle school I did a similar project, but I researched a France province, and used French vocabulary. So when I was given this project, I was confident because I had some previous experience with this kind of project.
This project relates to what I will learn in the future, because I will use my knowledge of how to form Spanish scenteces in the presentation, and the Spanish vocabulary in later assignments for Spanish class, and now I have a brief understanding of Panama incase I ever go there.
